Architype specified Junckers solid hardwood flooring for two areas at the Highgate Junior School. After winning a competition, the architectural firm designed impressive, high quality co-ed learning facilities in line with Passivhaus principles.

Designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard, the H-shaped building is arranged around a central top-lit circulation space, which features 325m2 Junckers Wide Board Oak Classic finished in Ultramatt lacquer. Adjacent to the central hub of the new school is the Main Hall, used for assemblies and performances. Designed to be spatially and acoustically efficient, it features a 370m2 Junckers 22mm solid maple multi-purpose floor fitted over New Era battens.

Junckers solid wood floors carry the Danish Indoor Climate certificate administered by the Danish Institute of Technology, making them the ideal choice for a school environment.

Junckers’ multi-purpose floors are made in solid hardwood, one of the most durable surfaces available and virtually unbeatable in terms of lifecycle costs. As well as complying fully with EN 14904, Junckers sports floors now comply with Sports England and Sport Scotland’s guidance for Affordable Sports Floors, both Category A3 and A4 systems, exceeding Sport England’s minimum performance requirement.

The flooring contractor was Hutchison Flooring.
